The Clinton Arrow Podcast

CHS Senior Jackson Hardy spent a week in New London, Connecticut, participating in the US Coast Guard's summer program called, or the Academy Introduction Mission, hosted on the US Coast Guard Academy's campus. 

Hardy gives us a look into the week and discusses how his time with the US Coast Guard JROTC program at CHS has paid off not only in growing him as a person and a leader but also in directing the decisions for his future. 

CPSD Superintendent Dr. Andy Schoggin talks about the Mississippi Department of Education's recently updated student attendance policy based on the new law passed by the Mississippi Legislature prior to the start of the 2026-2027 school year. 

The change in policy will require students enrolled in the Clinton Public School District to be present for 66 percent of the student’s school day to be counted present as opposed to the previous requirement of 63 percent and allows students only five excused absences each semester. 

The 2026-2027 School Year is here, and our principals have information about Meet the Teacher Day as well as Back to School Night for each campus. 

Clinton High School's US Coast Guard JROTC Commander Jeanita Jefferson has over 20 years of military experience and uses the lessons learned to pour into students at Clinton High School.

Fourth grade math and science teacher Schnita Gladney fully understands that the joy and passion of teaching is found in being a life-long learner and a willingness to go above and beyond (like, way above and beyond).

Clinton Athletic's Strength and Conditioning Coach Andrew Rafferty has put the science of training into place with Arrow athletes to instill proper form in order to produce quality athletes. His mission, however, is not only to produce healthy athletes but to prepare Clinton's students for life beyond sports.

Clinton's Attache Show Choir Director Chance Anderson knows the history associated with both of Clinton's Show Choirs and has a unique background making him a quality fit in his position. In this episode of the Clinton Arrow Podcast, Mr. Anderson talks about the skills students in Clinton's Attache and Ambassadors show choirs gain that go beyond their championship winning ways.

Northside and Eastside Language Teacher Rebecca Brill and her fellow EL Teachers proved that the time spent with students where English is not their first language is truly valuable. 

In this episode of the Clinton Arrow Podcast, Mrs. Brill shares about the successes these students achieved in the 2024-2025 school year and about the solid relationships built within these classes.

Dr. Andy Schoggin is entering is fifth year as CPSD's Superintendent and knows that a successful school year mirrors what it it takes to make a successful school district. I talked with him about the ABCs of starting a new school year in efforts to continue Clinton's successful track record of preparing students for the future. 

First, is Attendance. It's imperative to be present in order to make the most of the school year. 

Next is Belonging. It's important for both parents and students in order feel a sense of belonging.

Last is Challenging. The mission of the Clinton Public School District has always been to challenge students in a caring community.

During February of 2025, four CHS Juniors teamed together to make a real impact. Shruti Singh, Clara McCombs, Margaret Collins and Macy Carraway initiated a service project to help fellow Mississippi students at Children's of Mississippi Hospital feel recognized and honored while battling illnesses. 

 

These girls and the students of Clinton High School ended up collecting over $2,500 worth of items to send to Mississippi's only Children's Hospital.
